Jack Emmett


John I "Jack" Emmet interrupted his college days to enter the US Army Air Force in 1942. Jack was trained as an Air Traffic Controller at Scott Field and was deployed to the south pacific where his unit established an airfield in the Phillipines. The field was used as a launching point for US aircraft engaged in the battle of Leyte Gulf. Jack served until the end of the war and returned to university in 1946 to complete his degree.
