Captain Cooksley was a veteran of the AAF during battles of Bataan and Corregidor on the Philippine Islands during WWII. He fought as an Infantryman earning the Bronze Star Medal before taken prisoner.
He also served during the Korean War and retired from the U.S. Army.
Recent request for full recognition towards combat service was denied by the Army violating the U.S. Constitution.
Captain Cooksley went to his grave without recognition due.
