GARY DANE MORRISTON ENLISTED IN THE US MARINE CORP. IN 1964 AND ATTENDEED BOOTCAMP IN CAMP PENDLETON, CA. AFTER BASIC TRAING HE WENT TO SNIPER SCHOOL AND WAS STATIONED 1 YEAR IN KODIAK, AK. GARY WENT TO VIETNAM IN 1966 WHERE HE WAS WOUNDED IN ACTION, AIR EVAC'D TO JAPAN FOR SURGERY AND THEN TO SAN DIEGO FOR RECUPERATION. AMONG THE NUMEROUS MEDALS AND CITATIONS WHICH HE RECEIVED WERE: THE BRONZE STAR, PURPLE HEART, PRESIDENTIAL UNIT, AND THE VIETNAM CROSS OF GALLANTRY FOR HIS HEROISM. LATTER HE WAS ASSIGNED TO A UNIT IN HAWAII AND VOLUNTEERED FOR A SECOND TOUR IN VIETNAM. HE WAS PROMOTED TO CORPORAL, RETURNED TO THE STATES AND WAS DISCHARGED IN 1968. HE BECAME AN APPRENTICE MASON AND MARRIED JAN FORMAN IN 1970. HE WAS LATER KILLED IN PHOENIX FRIDAY, MARCH 5TH, 1971 IN A CONSTRUCTION ACCIDENT BUILDING THE ORIGINAL PHOENIX CIVIC PLAZA.
