SGT Vernon Lee Christopher served in the US Army for 7 years active duty and 2 years in the reserves. His father, Charles Christopher served in the US Navy. SGT Christopher wanted to follow in his father's footsteps and in doing so, he graduated top of his class from Basic Training and Warrior Leader School. He received numerous awards, commendations, and medals during the Operation Enduring Freedom Tour in Afghanistan of 2007-2008. He was a dedicated soldier, outstanding NCO, loving son, father, and husband. He completed his military career at Joint Lewis-McChord Base in WA. Due to an injury in Afghanistan, he was released from the ARMY, Honorable Discharge and 90% disability in 2012. SGT Christopher was respected and loved by his fellow soldiers. He was born in San Diego, CA on August 28, 1970 to Charles Christopher. He had two daughters, Paige and Piper, prior to marrying Patricia (Ordonez) Christopher on December 28, 2008. Due to complications of the injury sustained in Afghanistan, he passed away on October 30, 2012 at the age of 42. SGT Christopher was honored to be a soldier and proud to be a Veteran. He lives in our hearts and will never be forgotten.
