Veteran Profiles

George Gay

My father served in the 20th Armored Division during WWII as a machine gunner on a half track. His life expectancy was 7 seconds. His unit liberated Dachou Concentration Camp on April 29, 1945; they are known as the "Liberators." He received the Bronze Star among other medals and is 86 years young. All of his service records were destroyed by fire in St. Louis. Even though he can't get veteran's benefits, his story has been recorded.
